Agenda
Monday: Kuder Person Match - read the personal essays, explore your top 5 clusters. Star at least one career in each pathway. Look through every cluster with a score of at least 30. While you are looking at the pathways you must select a minimum education level. Whatever you think will be your lowest education level, also look at the jobs for the next higher level. In other words, if you think you don’t want to do any more schooling after graduating here, look at the jobs for high school graduates, but also look at the jobs that require some college. Goal: At least 10 stars.
Tuesday: Continue with Person Match, then move on to Kuder Skills Assessments and explore those top 5 clusters. You may find some repeats from above. Once again, look through every cluster with a score of at least 30. Goal: Another 6 stars.
Wednesday: Continue with Skills Assessments. Once you’ve completed these two tasks, go back and look at your starred careers. By this time I’ll have shown you how to look deeper at careers: salary, education requirements, job outlook, and so on. One of the resources Kuder job descriptions include is related careers. For example, if you’ve chosen Nurse as a career, there are many other medical jobs that are related, X-Ray technician, for example. Look at your careers for jobs that are related to the ones that interest you and star ones that look interesting. Goal: Another 6 stars.
Thursday: The last survey is Super’s Work Values. This is different, it doesn’t help you find jobs. It helps you realize what you value most. Through this survey you might find that the job that best suits you is one that is outside working with others but with little supervision. Sounds like you can scratch being a lawyer from your list. Spend some time looking at your results. Now put your interesting careers in order from most interesting to least interesting. By now you should have at least 22 stars!
Friday: Complete the above tasks if you are lagging behind. Open the Employability Skills assignment and begin work on it.
